A stunning, award winning studio in the heart of St John’s Wood
Developed and built by Providence Developments in only 11 months, Hill Road Studios utilised a novel basement construction technique we invented which reduced the programme by half whilst adding 16% additional floorspace compared to traditional basement construction techniques. The scheme won Ground Engineering Magazine’s Best Small Project Prize 2015.
Backing onto the famous Abbey Road Studios, Hill Road Studios in St Johns Wood is the result of a relentless attention to detail in the planning process. 13 previous attempts by previous owners to secure planning consent for this difficult backlands site had been turned down including two appeals.
By a careful, step by step elimination of objections we were able to secure a consent, put in place 13 seperate party wall awards and more than sextuple the value of our original investment.
Providence Impact
The first of two developments completed along Hill Road, Hill Road Studios is an ambitious project which has created a beautiful living space with panoramic garden views in a secluded environment away from the street whilst maintaining direct access.
Alastair was responsible for everything from design to planning and construction including the procurement, shop drawings, method statements and full scheduling of works.
